Ordering Test Prints

We offer a number of test print options to cater for different customer needs. Given the expense of making archival test prints due to costly materials we try to offer sensible solutions so minimise the cost to our valued customers.

Option 1 (Ordering a single test print)

If you need to test a single image file for colour accuracy, we recommend choosing your preferred paper type (SEE FULL LIST HERE) Once you have identified a suitable paper you can order a single print.  NOTE our smallest paper size is 10 x 8 inches which is suitable for colour testing.

IMPORTANT Please leave a comment in the order comments section advising us that this is a colour test print. We will know not to adjust this image or apply any corrections. This will allow you to see exactly how your image file prints on a fully calibrated system so that you can assess it for suitability. If you notice any issues after printing you can discuss these with us and we may be able to assist you in correcting this file. If you have not left any comment, we may automatically apply some corrections to the file (assuming issues are obvious and not subjective). Please note that if you upload a different file in the future, you may lose any corrections that were applied on the previous image which may lead to inconsistent results from print to print. We are happy to discuss this process in more detail if you have any questions.

Option 2 (checking multiple image files for colour accuracy)

Customers who are using their own image files may need to test them for colour accuracy before committing them to edition printing. At Fine Art Print Studio we use advanced colour profiling techniques to ensure the digital images we capture match the original artwork. Since this involves the use of advanced equipment and expertise, it is most likely this work will not have been done by the customer and therefore advisable to check what has been rendered in each image.

Instead of ordering multiple standard prints, which might become costly, we can tile out multiple small images on a single sheet, similar to contact sheets used by photographers in the days of film (except larger). In this case the customer pays for just one large print but they can check the colours produced by all their files.

To avail of this service, please request a file upload link from us and we will send you a link which can be used to upload all of your files. We will then check to see how much paper is required to tile these images out and send you a screenshot along with a price to make this custom print.  Typically this images are printed at approx 4 inches (longest side) but we can customise this option if required. Please contact us for further details.
